Cabinet meeting emergency due to COVID-19 takes new measures and restrictions

The measures taken at today's cabinet meeting, which convened urgently for COVID-19, are as follows;

1-) Fakaofo state, where the cases are seen, will be closed until January 15, 2021.

2-) Organizations such as home visits will be banned across the country.

3-) Only family members can attend the wedding.

4-) Only family members and a maximum of 5 people can attend the funerals.

5-) Under the age of 20 and above the age of 65, going out will be prohibited.

6-) Swimming will be prohibited throughout the country (especially in Tokelau islands).

7-) Entertainment venues such as cafes, bars, cinemas and shopping malls will be completely closed.

8-) Restaurants will only be able to serve take away.

9-) Transactions such as public transactions will be required to be made over the internet, employees here will work remotely.

10-) Education will be suspended until January 11, 2021, during this period, education will continue remotely.

11-) Places such as markets and grocery stores will be closed after 18 o'clock.

12-) Smoking will be banned in public places throughout the country.

13-) Wearing a mask will be mandatory everywhere.

14-) Everyone will be obliged to be at least 3 meters away from each other.

15-) Sports organizations will be canceled until January 15, 2021.


These measures will take effect from December 16, 2020.

President said that if the epidemic does not stop and continues, they can impose a curfew.
